Abi LGA — Development Plan for Cross River Central

Headquarters: Itigidi

Abi Local Government Area, with its headquarters at Itigidi, is a largely rural and riverine constituency. Its farmers and traders carry the local economy, and its communities feel the cost of poor rural roads and post-harvest losses more sharply than most.

The local economy

Cassava, rice, yam, fishing and river trade across Itigidi, Ediba, Adadama, Afafanyi and neighbouring communities.

What the Blueprint means for Abi

These priorities are drawn from the People’s Legislative Agenda and applied to the realities of Abi Local Government Area.

Rural farm roads

The Rural Farm Roads Initiative so produce from Abi's farming communities can reach markets without spoiling on impassable routes.

Cassava value chain and storage

Agricultural Value Chain Development and produce processing support, so cassava and other crops are processed locally instead of leaving the LGA as raw, low-value harvests.

Rural electrification and water

Federal rural electrification projects and expansion of potable water schemes for riverine and hard-to-reach communities.

Erosion and ecological intervention

Oversight of Ecological Fund and NDDC projects so riverine communities exposed to flooding and erosion receive the interventions already budgeted for them.
